Our Story

Our Story

The Bhamini began quietly in 2013.

Long before it became a brand, it started with something very personal — I loved designing and getting my own clothes stitched. People around me would often ask where I bought them or who made them.

One day, with equal parts curiosity and hesitation, I posted a photograph of myself wearing one of my creations on Facebook. I even edited the same design into different colours and uploaded it without expecting much.

Orders started coming in.

What began as a simple page created out of uncertainty slowly became something bigger than I had imagined.

At the time, I was working as a software developer and continued building The Bhamini alongside my career for years. I spent 13 years in the IT industry before finally making a decision in 2024 to step into this dream fully and work on The Bhamini full-time.

I grew up in Kalpathi — surrounded by tradition, art, culture and everyday beauty. Those memories continue to shape everything we create.

In 2020, after my daughter was born, The Bhamini quietly changed in a way that would shape everything that followed. Motherhood made me think more deeply about what we create, what we consume, and the kind of world we leave behind.

That was when we made the conscious decision to move towards sustainability and stop using polyester in our collections. It wasn’t the easier path. In many ways, we stepped away from choices that were commercially safer, and along the journey, we lost a part of the customer base we once had.
But over time, we gained something more meaningful.
Today, The Bhamini stands stronger — supported by a community of thoughtful women and conscious consumers who value natural fabrics, craftsmanship, longevity, and intentional choices. Our customers choose not just what they wear, but what they stand for.
The journey changed us, but it brought us closer to who we truly are.

Today, The Bhamini is still deeply personal.

I photograph the collections.
I style them.
I model for them.
I design each piece.
I pack every order.

Along with the support of a master tailor and skilled embroidery artisans, every garment is thoughtfully brought to life from beginning to end.

On September 8, 2024, The Bhamini’s offline store was inaugurated in the presence of my close family members — a simple and meaningful moment that marked years of belief, work and small beginnings turning into something real.

The Bhamini was created for women who love comfort without letting go of beauty — women who appreciate handmade details, feel connected to art and nature, and carry tradition in their own quiet way.

Thank you for being here and becoming part of this journey.
